University Project - Major Project
This was my final year project for university, it would be an example of all the skills I had been refining up until this moment in my life.
I chose to create a malfunctioning robotic crash test dummy head, with the intent of being used within a science fiction film where robots live alongside humans, similar to 'I, Robot' (2004) or 'Blade Runner' (1982). The story behind this piece is that in the film, crash test dummies are extremely advanced and are basically robotic versions of humans with a skeletal structure and a network of muscles, the purpose being to find the most accurate test results. This robot was decapitated in a crash test, causing it to malfunction.
My design for this piece involves a fully operational eye mech with a illuminating eyes, jaw movement, teeth, rubber nose, impact sensors located on the cranium, compressing artificial muscles, spinal column, and rear vent. My main reference for this design was the human body and the terminator. The programming was done with Arduino.
