University Project - Professional Context Model
I tasked myself with producing a miniature for a remake of a Gerry Anderson's 'Thunderbirds Are Go.' (1966) This remake would be made using the same techniques as the original in an attempt to replicate its charm, however, modern-day styling choices would have to be made in order to impress a younger audience.
I decided to replicate the 'Martian Exploration Vehicle,' a device used within the film to explore the surface of Mars. The model needed to have working deployable caterpillar tracks that could be tucked away into its body during flight, a movable turret, headlights, and a means of controlling it all wirelessly. I used the original design of the MEV as my main reference, as it was important for this to look like the original, and then incorporated more streamlined, elegant design ideas.
