In The Deathroom

In January 2022, I was working alongside film director Gary Sangha as an art director and production designer. We were working on a short film titled, 'In The Deathroom,' an adaptation of a short horror by Steven King.

Whilst working with Gary, I was responsible for the sourcing, creation, and management of all props used within the film, as well as a few well-timed bullet hit squibs. A key element of the film was the 'death machine.' An electrical device created by head torturer 'Mack the Knife' for extracting information from prisoners. I decided to present this piece in the form of a trolley, specifically one with squeaky wheels and a somewhat 'rickety' nature. I then compiled various electrical components together to create complexity. I added a control panel that was used to create suspense as Mack flipped each switch, increasing the voltage and the humming sound. A metal stylus was used to administer the shock.
